Albert P'an
Managing Director
Albert P'an is a senior executive with more than 30 years of experience across a wide range of industries including technology, telecommunications, consumer products, shipbuilding and commercial shipping. Over his career, he has held executive positions in companies ranging in size from start-ups to diversified multinational corporations including Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, W. R. Grace and PepsiCo. He has in-depth experience in sales, marketing, strategic planning, technology and new business development and has been effective at establishing lasting business relationships between western companies and their counterparts in the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr. P'an co-founded the TransCapital Group in 1984 and was active in its management as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer through 1993. TransCapital is an investment banking and trade development company that advises clients on entering new markets and conducts business between China and the West. In 2002, he founded and was CEO of CommVidea, a high-tech venture startup to create new commercial markets for a patented broadband networking technology. Since 2003 he has served as a consultant to early stage technology companies, private investors and financial institutions.
Earlier, Mr. P'an spent more than ten years in the corporate offices of Fortune 500 companies including Lockheed Martin, W.R. Grace and PepsiCo, beginning as a financial analyst and rising to the Director level. He developed in-depth experience with strategic and business planning processes, financial engineering and mergers and acquisitions. He is an accomplished analyst and has written numerous business plans, investment memoranda and performed due diligence supporting investments, acquisitions and divestitures.
While at Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications - a network and systems integration business, Mr. P'an was responsible for marketing the company's principal services, identifying and qualifying strategic partners and general management of projects involving multiple vendors and service providers. Lockheed's partners included companies in the marketing, components (hardware and software) and implementation/ training space.
In his earlier career, Mr. P'an was a Design Engineer at General Dynamics working on US Naval submarines and a Project Engineer for Matson Navigation Company, a major west coast commercial container ship operator.
Mr. P'an earned his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School, his M.S. in Naval Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley and his B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Sacred Heart University and the University of Bridgeport and serves on the Business Advisory Council of Teikyo Post University.
