Susan Miller
Managing Director

Susan Miller has achieved bottom-line accomplishments in retail, manufacturing, and consumer package goods. Ms. Miller has a strong customer focus with a comprehensive understanding of a wide variety of product categories from luxury goods to mass market.

While serving as Vice President of Signature Services for Saks Fifth Avenue from 2003 to 2004, Ms. Miller launched and directed a multi-department wedding service business by positioning the existing bridal salon business and integrating it with a new wedding gift registry and jewelry collection. She created and implemented the marketing strategy to make Saks a premier destination for upscale wedding planning and she formed cross-functional partnerships, integrating products and services while driving volume for multi-product classifications, ultimately revitalizing the existing bridal salon business while generating $2 million in new sales within the first 3 months. She was responsible for re-focusing Saks' Fifth Avenue Club, a $150 million personal shopping service, a strategy that achieved double-digit growth by creating new marketing initiatives and redefining customer priorities.

Prior to Saks, Ms. Miller served as Vice President of Shopping Services for Bloomingdale's from 1993 to 2002 where she transformed a decentralized business and built it into a cohesive, unified organization of 300 employees across 23 stores. The core businesses included Gift Registry, Personal Shopping, Interior Design, and Corporate Services. She successfully repositioned and coordinated four special shopping services, launched a studio service business targeting the entertainment industry and doubled volume to over $90 million. She integrated the online Gift Registry service with the in-store business, increasing registrations by 25% and sales 10%. She directed Customer Service and Fulfillment, overseeing the catalogs, phone, and mail order businesses and she restructured the standards and policies, reducing expenses by 10% without any service compromise, significantly expanding the customer base and customer productivity.

From 1992 to 1993, Ms. Miller served as Vice President of Strategic Planning for Bloomingdale's where she developed the company's first comprehensive strategic plan for a $1.5 billion multi-store business, a planning process that is still fully utilized today. She also integrated all functional areas of the company, raising efficiency levels, enhancing product assortment planning and store presentation standards.

From 1985 to 1992, Ms. Miller was the Director of Strategic Planning for Avon Products, Inc. where she directed all strategic planning for a $1.4 billion U.S. direct selling business and the $150 million Giorgio Beverly Hills division. She integrated the product, manufacturing, and selling strategies into new, cohesive plans to accelerate sales growth, revitalizing the beauty business by launching a new marketing plan and creating new product strategies for cosmetics and skin care. Product lines were streamlined, manufacturing efficiencies were achieved and customers found it easier to make product selections. She also designed a new structure for a national sales force, accelerating growth and improving retention. By implementing these acquisition strategies, her team added more than $200 million in annual sales.

In her earlier career, from 1984 to 1985, Ms. Miller also served as an Associate in the Marketing Practice of Booz-Allen & Hamilton and was in Product Management for General Foods Corporation in the Pet Foods & Breakfast Foods Division.

Ms. Miller earned her M.B.A. in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from Stanford Graduate School of Business. She also earned her B.S. in Economics and her B.A. in International Relations, both from the Wharton School of Business where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa. At Wharton, she was also a Benjamin Franklin Scholar.
