Patricia S. Koziol
Managing Director
Pat Koziol has over 20 years of senior management experience. In addition to being a Smooth Engine Consultant, Ms. Koziol also serves as president of PEAK Management Solutions for Associations, an association management firm that she founded in March 2003 where she manages the operations for state and national associations including the production of trade shows and educational conferences.
From 1989 to 2003, Ms. Koziol served as Executive Director for the Hobby Industry Association (HIA), an international trade organization with membership of 5,000 companies engaged in the manufacture, distribution, and retail of creative craft and hobby products. While at HIA, under her leadership, the association's team of volunteers and staff achieved unprecedented growth in membership, trade show participation, and educational benefits and services. She redirected the association toward attracting new businesses into the industry and new consumers into participating in leisure-time hobbies, achieving 14 years of positive association growth. Among her activities, she managed member programs and services, meetings and expositions, consumer and public relations, and finance and administration, including producing the HIA Show, one of the largest trade shows in the United States. In addition, she maintained international relations with ten non-U.S. trade associations and also served as Executive Director of the HIA Foundation, Inc.
Prior to joining HIA, Ms. Koziol was Division Manager/Public Affairs Director for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) in Washington, D.C. As a lobbyist for NAM, she developed grassroots member programs for contacting legislators and congressional leaders on issues of concern to manufacturers.
Ms. Koziol earned her B.A. in communications from the University of Dayton, her M.B.A. in finance from William Paterson University, and completed the Leadership Training Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Ms. Koziol has also served as an industry spokesperson and written numerous articles for trade publications.
