Jean-René Gougelet
Managing Director
Jean-René Gougelet is a senior executive who has held key leadership roles in the international consumer products, specialty retail, OTC drugs and cosmetic industries. He has broad international, multi-cultural, and multiple channel management experience with a proven track record accelerating sales and profit growth for leading category companies.
Most recently, Mr. Gougelet founded and served as CEO of "ViDO Enterprises" a consultancy dedicated to the growth management of entrepreneurial companies.
Prior to founding ViDO, Mr. Gougelet served as CEO of Mikasa, a company that had just been newly acquired by Arc International. Mikasa was the leader in the US luxury home products/tabletop industry operating both at wholesale and at retail with 175 stores and revenues of $350 million. While at Mikasa, Mr. Gougelet repositioned the brand in the luxury market and improved the Company's various retail formats while developing a very successful e-commerce Web site.
Prior to Mikasa, Mr. Gougelet had been recruited by Mr. Jacques Durand, Chairman of French based Arc International, the world leader of glass and lead crystal drinkware and dinnerware, to become President and CEO of their North American divisions. In this role, he more than doubled the business from $140 to $300 Million by successfully rebuilding the department store distribution and growing the B2B sector from $27 Million to $134 Million in sales.
Mr. Gougelet began his career in advertising and brand management roles in Belgium with Publicis, Ted Bates, Quaker Oats, and Lesieur Cotelle household products. He subsequently joined Pierre Fabre in France as Marketing Director of their cosmetics and OTC business where he created the first international marketing department for the company. Subsequently, he was promoted to President of Pierre Fabre, North America where he developed a US growth strategy leading to the acquisition of Physicians Formula Cosmetics.
Mr. Gougelet holds degrees in both advertising and marketing from EFIEM and EFAP in Paris, and has received additional training in marketing at the University of Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium and in general management from Harvard Business School. He is a Foreign Trade Advisor to the French Government, a past board member of the International Housewares Association and currently serves on the advisory board of Trudeau Corp in Montréal, Casabella in New York and on the oversight board of Blue Vision SA in Paris.
