James A. Baum

Jim Baum has a proven track record as a sales and management executive with over forty years experience in the better menswear industry.

Mr. Baum was most recently the Vice President of Crookhorn Davis, Inc., a private label and branded manufacturer of high quality men's belts and distributor of fine imported Italian hosiery for men. Since joining the company in May 1994, Mr. Baum overhauled the sales force and repositioned the company to increase unit volume, sales and profits. He successfully helped Crookhorn Davis to increase sales by more than fifty percent, and add majors such as Nordstrom, Allen Edmunds, Joseph A. Bank and Johnston Murphy to the company's account list. Mr. Baum resigned from his executive duties with Crookhorn Davis in June 2000; however, he continues to consult for the company, helping to keep inventories level by selling off excess merchandise to major discount chains.

Prior to his position at Crookhorn Davis, Mr. Baum served as the Vice President of Lakeland Manufacturing Company, a mid-western domestic maker and importer of better men's cloth and leather outerwear. When Mr. Baum took over Lakeland's New York Office in 1973, the company's sales were less $250,000. By the mid-eighties, Lakeland was selling every specialty store and major department store operation in its price range in New York City. In addition to sales management, Mr. Baum's responsibilities included product allocation, customer-relations oversight and merchandising.

Mr. Baum has spent time as a real estate developer and investor in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. He also owns property in Columbia County, NY where he has just completed a subdivision sale.

In 1975, Mr. Baum began to study Seido Karate, a traditional Japanese martial art. He is now ranked as a fifth degree black belt and he currently teaches at The Athletic and Swim Club at Equitable Center in Midtown Manhattan.
